Agoura Hills: Past & Present

The city of Agoura Hills is a part of the Los Angeles - Long Beach metro area. It is a 45 minute drive from the busy downtown Los Angeles, and is 4 miles away from Thousand Oaks. Being in the foothill of Sta. Monica Mountains, the city is still cherishing their hills and inspiring canyons. It is a haven of historical sites, cradled with modern living.
The early settlers of the area are Native Americans, which were later on driven away by the Spanish. They pioneered ranching in the area, giving birth to vast cattle and sheep ranches. Upon the turn of the century, agriculture and ranching was a shrinking industry, the residents are set off by the water supply in the area. Along this time, the name of the place is established by the Chamber of Commerce. The name is from one of the earliest landowners Pierre Agoure. The Agoura Hills homes are enriched through the help of their neighboring lands. This is when land was sold for housing purposes thus, Agoura Hills real estate is born. Another big step forward that ensured the development of the place is the establishment of Ventura Freeway, consequently the incorporation as the city of Agoura Hills in 1982. In 2000, Agoura Hills is an extensive suburb its ranching industry long gone-and is home to roughly twenty – five thousand residents.
Agoura Hills has approximately 7,000 houses built, and almost 84 per cent are occupied by the owners themselves. Most houses offered by real estates are composed of 3 to 4 bedrooms.
