Author: Maita Yoldi | Date Posted: 10/08/2008

Aliso Viejo became Orange County’s 34th city in the year 2001 when a special poll resulted to a 93.3% victory for the residents who yearned to transform their town into a progressive and independent city. The bold leap was simply a culmination of Aliso Viejo’s steady advancement towards economic growth. Being the home of big name Company headquarters such as UST Global, Tamiya Corporation and Pacific Life among others, Aliso Viejo’s wealth is considerably resounding.

Some new development projects are currently underway in Aliso Viejo, stirring some excitement amongst the locals and neighboring cities. Since the beginning of 2008, many changes can be seen around the city – vacant lots are being repurposed as would-be Aliso Viejo homes; commercial buildings and recreational facilities are slowly rising from once unused land areas. The planned development is not resolutely confined to one space, but spread out wisely throughout the city, appropriating a total of 907,000 square feet for commercial purposes and 215,700 square feet for retail and Aliso Viejo restaurant use.

One of the most awaited event is the completion of the Aliso Viejo Aquatic Centre, a government owned public facility that features a resort-style swimming complex replete with a five lane lap pool, a childrens wading pool and splash pad, a pool for recreational swimming and an adult whirlpool. This open facility will be largely community-oriented, bringing the best swimming programs for children and adults alike. A snack bar and a patio for lounging is also one of the highlights in the building. The Aliso Viejo Aquatic Centre will be operated and managed by the City of Aliso Viejo and will require no membership fees.

The luxurious Aliso Viejo Community Conference Centre is also a work in progress. Located at 31 Santa Barbara, this facility is being built to house big corporate events and family celebrations such as weddings and other special gatherings. State-of-the-art meeting and banquet rooms are equipped with modern audio visual elements and wireless internet service. The impressive grand ballroom provides scenic views of Aliso Viejo’s stunning landscapes. As though these amenities are not enough, the Aliso Viejo Community Conference Centre will include a patio overlooking the city’s golf course.

Other major developments in Aliso Viejo consists of 2 new residential neighborhoods called Glenwood at Aliso Viejo and Ventana Ridge, an office complex called Summit Office Campus that boasts of a 258,000 square feet office space and a new 7-story parking lot, the Vantis Project which is a mixed-use development featuring residential homes, recreational facilities and commercial spaces all within one vicinity.

Truly moving forward towards further growth, it is not a wonder why Aliso Viejo is a wise choice for property investments. Amidst the country’s concern for possible economic downfall, Aliso Viejo persists in building a city of progress for the good of all its inhabitants.
