Garden Grove is a suburban city in Orange County California located in the Northern region. Passed through the State Route 22 also known as the Garden Grove Freeway, Garden Grove is a city occupied by a number of Vietnamese-American and Korean-American population. It is one of the more unique cities in Orange County in that it holds a fusion of both Asian and American cultures. Garden Grove is known to some as Little Saigon because of its many Asian inhabitants.
In 1874 the city of Garden Grove California was founded by Alonzo Cook, who was also responsible for building the city’s civic center and school districts. He also initiated commerce in the then small town, and donated all the land for these buildings. By 1877, Garden Grove had shaped up into a real city, complete with a church, a blacksmith, a post office and a general store. Today, Garden Grove CA is a far cry from its humble beginnings.

West Garden Grove also has a significantly lower crime and poverty rate, as well as a lower population density.
Garden Grove is famous for the Crystal Cathedral, a spectacular Protestant mega church designed by famed architect Phillip Johnson. The cathedral’s most interesting feature is the use of thousands of rectangular glass panes glued to the main structure by means of silicone glue. The result is a magnificent interplay of lights, colors and shadows within the main cathedral building. The Crystal Cathedral is also home to an ancient five-manual pipe organ built in 1962. The Garden Grove Playhouse, the Gem Theater and the Festival Amphitheater are three stage theaters found in Garden Grove CA, an indication of the residents’ love of the arts and culture.
Garden Grove goes by the by-line “the city of youth and ambition”, gearing towards economic growth and the preservation of culture and heritage. To date the population totals over 170,000 people – with diverse backgrounds and nationalities. The Strawberry Festival is Garden Grove’s oldest running annual event and among the largest in the western United States.
