About Garden Grove

“City of Youth and Ambition”

During the late 1800s, when the city’s founder Dr Alonzo Cook suggested naming it Garden Grove, the residents were skeptical because it did not look like it and so he told them that they had to make it appropriate by planting trees and making the community beautiful.

Garden Grove has a total area of 18 square miles in the heart of Orange County, in the center of the northern part with an estimated population of 172,781. It was incorporated on June 18, 1956.

They City’s precipitation averages 13.8 inches of rainfall distributed throughout the year. It is warmest in August with an average of 84.2 ° F and coldest during December with 46°F average.

Residents and tourists enjoy more than 160 acres of parks and recreational areas of the City. They also look forward to the annual Strawberry Festival that happens during the Memorial Weekend, which features parade and carnival to celebrate the City’s strawberry-growing history. It draws about a quarter of a million participants and spectators.

Everyone gapes in awe when they get their first look of the Crystal Cathedralon Chapman Avenue. It is the home base of the International Crystal Cathedral Ministries with a congregation of 10, 000 members and from where the “Hour Of Power” is televised internationally.

Stanley Ranch Museum offers glimpses of past when visitors view the oldest houses and buildings relocated on this 2 acres park and the Grove Theater Center entertains goers with year-round plays in two of its theaters, the Gem Theater which seats 178 and the Festival Amphitheater with 550 seats.
